Makeup and clothing is an issue for many teenage girls. If you are stressing about what you should look like as a newcomer in middle school, or a freshie in high school, here's a quick guide to help your fashion mature with you throughout middle and high school.
In Sixth grade, wear lip gloss, some mascara, and maybe a little bit of pale eyeshadow; don't go too heavy or it may look bad. If you want to try out more types of makeup, keep that for home experiments.
As for clothes, keep it in your comfort level. Bear this in mind: if you are wearing a bra or undershirt, don't let the straps hang out. It doesn't look cool; it just looks sloppy. If you are wearing a short shirt, check in the mirror to see if your stomach hangs out of the bottom. Otherwise, wear something a little bit longer. Also, if your pants are likely to slip, wear a belt. Belts are totally hip now!
* The main point is to keep the makeup light, and the clothes clean cut.
In Seventh grade you are beginning to care a little more what you look like; you might want to try curling your hair a few days a week, and using different hairstyles besides your typical ponytail.
If you are acne prone, try foundation. Remember thet even oily skin can get flaky and that looks horrible with foundation. So try it on weekends first and ask your mother (or someone that uses foundation well) if it looks okay.
In Seventh grade you might want to try eyeliner. But not too much because you don't want to look like a racoon!
Start trying to tie outfits together with accessories. It's good to try new things with your makeup and clothes. But when you try the new things, make sure it looks good on you, not just in the picture or at the store. Check out different stores, and find out if there is a style that suits you.
In eighth grade you are probably getting good at makeup and you know what you like. Try establishing your own hairstyle without looking like everyone else. For example, if everyone has long, layered hair with no bangs, try light wispy bangs and a shorter, layered look.
You might be wearing tighter jeans now and probably starting to get concerned with impressing the guys, so it's safe to try out more mature styles such as a sleek leather blazer, or lower cut necklines. If you are happy with your sports bra, that is totally OK. But it's safe now to check out the actual bra department and wear something that makes you feel pretty - like lace.
Ninth grade: high school! This is a big transition. Now in the same world as seniors, you are going to want to look like the rest of your peers. You should by now have your makeup and hair styles already. Try to update this look a bit, because no one wants to carry the same look they had in middle school. Dramatize a detail in your hair. If its known for it's left side part, part it even deeper. Make a straight style even sleeker and hip. Learn to make youre curls tighter, or looser.
In high school you might want to wear your usual make up during the day, and as you start to go out with friends and boys at night, add a darker shade of eyeliner, or jazz up your lips with something more festive. It's also good to try new shoes, try wearing spikier ankle boots with a pair of hot jeans and a blouse. Chunkier heels aren't as hip as spikes as you get older. Incorporate accessories into your outfit. Buy yourself a bag that's in suede or leather to keep your schoolbooks in, instead of a backpack. You will want to buy yourself a new jacket, and make it your own.
You know what you like, so go and find clothes that fit your style, but crank it up a notch for a more mature feel.

| Pimples have a notorious habit of showing up just before that special date or a much-awaited party. It doesn’t matter how great your date is or how lovely the party is, you constantly feel that all eyes are on your face, with a pimple spoiling the show. Tone, Wash, And Moisturize Acne is mainly caused by bacteria build-up, so it’s best to use an anti-bacterial face wash. Usually, your dermatologist will recommend a safe product to use. Better still, use fragrance-free face wash that is free of any oils. Apply an oil free, vitamin E-enriched cream that is useful to heal pimple-prone and ruptured skin. You need to remove the impurities from your face to allow it to breathe. Never forget to use a toner and a face wash daily after returning from outside. An alcohol-free toner is best as it will keep a check on the bacteria on the skin. Use an oil-free sunscreen for your face. But remember, you need very little of it, else the sweat and your oily skin will lead to more pimples. When A Pimple Strikes Rule of thumb, never squeeze a pimple as this may cause scarring and infection. Squeezing a pimple reddens the area, causing the bacteria to spread. Instead, every half an hour, apply a cold compress on the pimple. Even if it gives you the chills, hold the ice on the affected area for a couple of minutes. Cold compress does wonders in reducing redness, swelling, and pain. Wash your face at least three times a day with anti-acne soap. Follow it up with an anti-acne cream containing benzyl peroxide. Seek a doctor’s advice before purchasing and applying as overuse of such creams can cause excessive drying of skin. Hide It Always go for water-based products as they are lighter on oily skin. Preferably choose a medicated concealer with anti-acne properties. First dab some toner with cotton wool on the pimples. The toner will dry up the excess oil, and then use the concealer. Remember, concealers can be creamy, so use them sparingly. You can spread the concealer with your finger tips, a brush, or cotton wool. Once you have applied the concealer, allow it to dry and use a powder brush to set it. Once done, apply oil-free foundation and compact to complete the picture. Ensure the foundation has a yellow base to reduce the redness of the pimples. | |||||||||||||

Acne, commonly known as 'Pimples' is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous unit (hair follicle and oil producing glands). It is one of the commonest conditions affecting the teenage population. Usually they subside spontaneously within a few years, but a small percentage of them continue to have them even in their early thirties. Acne is due to various reasons. There is increased stickiness of the cells that line the opening of the hair follicle due to which the sebum which is normally secreted out through thisroute, gets blocked, resulting in the 'blackhead'. There is also an increased amount of the bacteria 'Propionibacteria acnes' which normally resides there in small numbers. There is also increased sebum production due to the hormonal variation that takes place at the time of puberty. Acne can either be non-inflammatory (just blackheads) or they can progress to larger lesions filled with pus, which ultimately scar. Topical medications in the form of lotions, gels etc. is sufficient for small non inflammatory ones, but once pus filled lesions are present, oral antibiotics are necessary, in addition to the topical medications. | ARE YOUR STRETCH MARKS STRETCHING YOUR LIMITS? | | ||||||||||||
| It is very common that almost every woman in a specific time of their lives will develop stretch marks. Others simply have a generic predisposition to stretch marks and get them everywhere and others, never develop stretch marks at all. They look like reddish lines across the body, and with time they will turn white. In pregnancy it is common to have them since the skin is stretching very rapidly to accommodate the baby and the milk stored in the breasts. Once the stretch marks develop they will stay with you forever; but with time they will be less noticeable. The only way to avoid stretch marks is preventing them. We recommend: It is very important to exercise in order to get rid of stretch marks; toning your muscles helps your skin to remain firm thus preventing stretch marks. Make sure your diet contains plenty of protein and foods rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E, they promote good tissue growth. Massaging your body with olive oil or Vitamin E may help. You can also try this homemade recipe: Mix one ounce of carrier oil (try avocado, sweet almond, jojoba, they are the best) with seven drops of lavender and five drops of chamomile. Apply cocoa butter and/ or elastin cream throughout the body as directed on label. These are very good for stretch marks. Here is another good recipe: 1/2 cup virgin olive oil. 1/4 cup aloe vera gel. liquid from 6 capsules of Vitamin E. liquid from 4 capsules of Vitamin A. Mix all the ingredients together in a blender. After that pour the mixture into a jar and store it in the fridge. Apply the oil externally all over the places where the stretch marks commonly appear (abdomen, hips, thighs and breasts). If you do this consistently every day, you may prevent stretch marks. | |||||||||||||
THE BENEFITS OF FACIAL MASSAGE
TEXERCISES FOR YOUR FACE!
Your face represents the person you are, and yet, while we treat our skin externally with creams and lotions, we forget that like the rest of our body, our face can do with some exercise too. Here are some exercises that will increase the blood circulation to your face, giving your skin that extra glow and extended youthfulness.
1. Let’s begin with your cheeks
Smile as wide as you can. Take your three middle fingers, place them on your cheeks and pull down your cheeks at the same time. Tilt your head backwards while doing this. This exercise works wonderfully on the cheek muscles and helps in keeping them firm.
2. For the forehead
Place your index fingers above your eyes and pull them down very gently; at the same time, attempt to raise your eyebrows. This exercise will work the muscles on your forehead making them firm.
3. Improve circulation
Take a deep breath and exhale with some force, opening your mouth as wide as possible. Also, stick out your tongue while breathing out as far as you can. Keep your eyes open and look towards the ceiling. This exercise is excellent in improving the circulation in your face.
4. Beat that double chin
The bane of an otherwise pretty face, a double chin can be effectively tackled with this exercise. Sit in a chair and tilt your head back to look at the ceiling with your lips closed. Now, purse your lips and count till twenty. Relax your head and bring it to the normal position.
5. For a smooth, sensuous neck
Sit straight and tilt your head back towards the ceiling. Relax and close your lips. Move your lower lip over your top lip for as far as possible and maintain that position for 10 counts. Repeat this exercise 10 times.
And finally, open your lips as wide as you can and feel the stretch on your lips, cheeks and all facial muscles. This exercise will increase circulation to your entire face, relieve stress as well as relax your face muscles.
TRICKS TO HANDLE OILY SKIN
Is your skin oily? You need not fret. If you think people with dry or combination skin are better off, you’re mistaken. Having oily skin isn’t all that bad!
Why Oily Skin Occurs
Sebaceous glands produce a healthy lubricant called sebum. When these glands run on overdrive, it results in oily skin. Did you know that sebum actually protects your skin from becoming excessively dry, brittle or cracked? That’s why on a positive note, oily skin is less prone to skin ageing. While oily skin is prone to pimples and blackheads, the good news is that such outbreaks can be controlled.
Skin Care For Oily Skin
o Use a soap-free face wash at least 2-3 times a day. Never over-use a face wash as that will disturb the natural sebum levels of your skin.
o Avoid cream-based cleansers as they will leave your skin oilier.
o Avoid alcohol-based astringents as that may leave your skin feeling stretched. Preferably use rose water or an alcohol free toner/astringent.
Exfoliating Oily Skin
o Use an exfoliating face wash with tea tree oil. Tree tea oil has an anti-septic property that prevents acne.
o Once a week, gently massage a scrub on your face to keep blackheads at bay.
o During a bath, wash your body gently with a soft loofah and a mild exfoliating body wash.
More Tips For Oily Skin
o Always bathe with lukewarm water. Hot or cold water will tamper with your skin texture.
o Half an hour before a shower, rub cucumber and lemon juice mixed in a ratio of 1:1 on your face.
o Add a few drops of eau de cologne to your bath water. The eau de cologne will act like a mild astringent thereby cleaning the pores and preventing pimples.
o Apply a clay/fruit mask once a week to keep the glow and not the shine on your face.
o Apply an oil-free moisturiser after a bath.
o Avoid any kind of body butter, mineral oil or petroleum based lotions/creams.
o Before stepping out, apply oil-free sunscreen lotion (SPF 15).

Well, you are not the only one to suffer the vagaries of nature. Even the most fair-skinned amongst start wearing our age on our face after a certain time and it is not always easy to camouflage it behind a ` I accept smile'. Massaging the face is an easy and important part of beauty regime to keep wrinkles at bay. Besides softening the skin, another good effect of moisturizer massage is that it stimulates blood circulation and removes dead skin. Massage is also known to tighten certain skin tissues that tend to go flabby and give the face a worn out look.
